The space is equipped with new, electronic smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. They have audible alarms, which will shout SMOKE or CARBON MONOXIDE, depending on what is detected. If these alarms are triggered, and it is not a false alarm from basic cooking smoke, then call the fire department and then the host.
If you ACCIDENTALLY set off the smoke detectors while cooking, please open the windows and doors until the smoke dissipates. Then the smoke detector will stop alarming and return to ready mode. (You can also try to push the round button on the detector face also labeled HUSH. This should stop the shrieking as you clear out mild smoke.)
Operating instructions can be found here.
*Tampering with smoke detectors will trigger a warning to the host and is prohibited under the House Rules.
