Safety Info & Rules

NO PARTIES ARE ALLOWED. We want everyone to have a great time during their stay, spend time with friends and family and make memories to last a lifetime. However, we ask that you and your guests maintain a respectful level of noise while on property and be mindful of other duplex guests as well as our year-round neighbors on the beach lane.

The town does has a local noise ordinance:  9pm - 8am. This is strictly enforced by local police and lane residents. The police will issue tickets for noise violations to both the guests AND the property owner, which will result in immediate termination of your reservation, without refund and removal from the property.

Decibel Monitor: Due to the seriousness of the local noise ordinance, a noise level/decibel monitoring device is present in the unit. It doesn’t record speech or sound, but will monitor if the decibels of sound increase past noise ordinance levels. We expect that guests will immediately curb their noise level when notified or risk having their reservation immediately cancelled. *Tampering with decibel detection devices, security cameras, routers, or smoke detectors will trigger a warning to the host and is prohibited under the House Rules.

External Security Cameras:  24/7, motion triggered, outdoor security cameras on property cover only driveway, bike rack, & alley with AC equipment for security / anti-theft purposes. Porches, decks, doorways, picnic area and front sidewalk are NOT INCLUDED in surveillance.

The space is equipped with new, electronic smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. They have audible alarms, which will shout SMOKE or CARBON MONOXIDE, depending on what is detected. If these alarms are triggered, and it is not a false alarm from basic cooking smoke, then call the fire department and then the host.

If you ACCIDENTALLY set off the smoke detectors while cooking, please open the windows and doors until the smoke dissipates. Then the smoke detector will stop alarming and return to ready mode. (You can also try to push the round button on the detector face also labeled HUSH. This should stop the shrieking as you clear out mild smoke.)

Operating instructions can be found here.

*Tampering with smoke detectors will trigger a warning to the host and is prohibited under the House Rules.

In case of a fire you can use any doors and windows to exit the building. If you are on the second floor, you can use the staircase, windows or front balcony as exits.

The kitchen is a mighty, but a smaller space than that of a full sized kitchen. When you are cooking you need turn on the hood vent, located under the microwave. The fan power buttons are on the bottom of the microwave control pad. In addition, you should open one of the kitchen windows. Proper ventilation will keep the smoke detectors from being accidentally triggered, as the detectors are new and very sensitive.

- Window Guards- both units

The window guards are available but not set. If you have small children you should set the windows guards. Keep in mind locked window guards will impede exiting out the window in case of fire, so you will need to unlock them before the window can open fully.

See printed instructions here.

See video of function here.

Other features:

- Outlet plugs- both units

- Safety Gate- In second floor only

- Safety Door Chain Lock - On second floor balcony door

- Safety Cabinet Lock- On cabinet under kitchen sink where the cleaners and dishwasher/washer machine pods are located. Please re-lock after accessing.

- Unit 2 only: Stair treads to prevent slipping on the stairs.
